Seth May-Patterson, viola, and Sarah Wenger, violin, are a string teaching duo who are equally comfortable performing as they are teaching in classrooms and private lessons.

Seth May-Patterson, viola/violin, is a sought-after performer, private teacher, and coach who is as comfortable performing for sold out arenas as he is teaching in the classroom. Seth has performed with artists such as Mark Lanegan (Queens of the Stone Age), ODESZA, Duff McKagan (Guns and Roses), Judy Collins, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and many others. Notably, he has appeared with Mary Lambert on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and completed a national tour with David Bazan in 2014, as well as performed with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis with Leon Bridges at the American Music Awards. 

Seth holds a Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance from Cornish College of the Arts where he studied with Mara Gearman (Assistant Principal Viola of Seattle Symphony), and in 2011 completed an intensive fellowship with grandmaster violist Emanuel Vardi. Seth currently sits Principal Viola in the Seattle Rock Orchestra and Assistant Principal in the Northwest Symphony Orchestra, is a member of Symphony Tacoma, and subs for the Seattle Symphony, Pacific Northwest Ballet and Auburn Symphony Orchestra. Seth also performed with the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players, the Los Angeles Symphony Orchestra, and was thrilled to be asked to perform in China as Principal Viola with the Hollywood Concert Orchestra. 

Seth is also a passionate music educator. He has been teaching viola and violin in the Pacific Northwest since 2009, when he cofounded an after school beginning strings program in the Snoqualmie Valley Elementary Schools. He currently teaches privately in Snoqualmie and at the Gene Nastri Community School of the Arts in Mukilteo, coaches for the Bellevue Youth Symphony Orchestra, and is a conductor for the Snoqualmie Strings Youth Symphony.

 

Seth also enjoys arranging, hiking, swimming, and coffee. 

Sarah Wenger, violin/viola, grew up in a musical household and began her musical studies at the age of three. She completed her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she studied with Rebecca Fischer of the Chiara String Quartet. Sarah has performed extensively  throughout the Midwest, Pacific Northwest, Europe, and China in various orchestral and chamber music ensembles, as well as toured with artists such as Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, Jordan Smith, New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players, Los Angeles Symphony Orchestra, and the Hollywood Concert Orchestra.

Sarah has a love for string pedagogy and has been an active instructor in the Kansas City, Lincoln, and Seattle areas. She currently is an active violin teacher, orchestral director, and chamber music coach with Snoqualmie Strings, Seattle Chamber Music Society, Northshore School District, Mukilteo School District, Federal Way School of Music, and Gene Nastri Community School of the Arts. She enjoys working with people from all backgrounds and ages, and helps them achieve their musical goals, whether it be learning violin for fun, or actively pursuing a career in music. Several students in Sarah's studio have prepared and successfully taken All State and college auditions. 

When not performing or teaching, Sarah enjoys hiking, photography, traveling, National Geographic, and drinking coffee with her cat, Riley.
