Registration and Fee: All students are required to register and pay an annual non-refundable fee of $60. This fee secures your spot in S&S String Studio and contributes towards the cost of venue rental for recitals. The fee for additional family members is reduced by 20% for each student. Recital participation is required as S&S String Studio believes that performing regularly builds the skills necessary for success at higher levels of performance. (The recital fee is waived until it is safe for in-person gatherings.)

Tuition: Tuition is based on the annual cost for private lessons: $1480 for 30 minute lessons, $1850 for 45 minute lessons, and $2220 for 60 minute lessons. There are 37 lessons in the academic year beginning September and ending in May. Tuition is divided by 9 months and is payable in equal installments by the 1st of each month regardless of the number of weeks in any particular month. $160 for 30 minutes, $200 for 45 minutes, and $240 for 60 minutes. If tuition is not paid by the 10th of the month, a $10 late fee is applied to the account. Tuition not paid by the end of the month will result in the suspension of lessons until the account is current. Obviously this policy is issued generally and if there are any problems with making payment we are happy to work out a solution with your family. Tuition for students who join after September is prorated. Summer term lessons (June, July, and August) are scheduled month to month taking into consideration vacations, summer camps, etc.

Lessons: We offer both online and in-person lessons. For in-person lessons, all students and parents must sign and agree to our Covid-19 agreement. If a student wishes to only take online lessons, even after in-person lessons resume, we are more than happy to accommodate.

Recitals: S&S String Studio offers two (2) live recitals each year. For our students in Washington State, they are guaranteed two (2) in-person lessons immediately preceding each recital (4 total per year). Recital venues may differ and each is selected to give the participants a unique and professional performance experience. Please see our events page for recital dates and locations.

For our students in Missouri/Kansas, they are guaranteed in-person lessons once it is safe to meet. We will also be hosting two (2) recitals in the area once it is safe for gatherings.

*Due to Covid-19, recitals will be pre-recorded and compiled into a video that will be distributed to all students and families of S&S String Studio. Once it is safe to do so, in-person recitals will resume.

Payment: Preferred payment method is electronically via Venmo, Zelle, or Paypal. If electronic payments are not possible for whatever reason, personal checks or money orders may be mailed as alternative forms of payment.

Attendance & Make-ups: Attendance is expected at every lesson. Lessons take place weekly. Exceptions can be made if a student's schedule is unusually busy or financial difficulties exist. In this case, students may have a lesson every other week. If a student is unable to attend a lesson, the teacher should be notified at least 24 hours in advance and a make-up will be scheduled. There are no refunds for missed lessons if the student or parent fails to contact S&S String Studio at least 24 hours before the scheduled lesson. In case of cancellation for emergencies or sudden illness within the 24 hour period, make-ups may be made at the teacher's discretion, but are not guaranteed. Make-up lessons due to teacher absence will be scheduled taking both student and teacher schedules into consideration.

Suspending Lessons: If you need to stop taking lessons for any reason, they can be suspended at any time as long as notice is given two weeks in advance.

Required Study Materials: Students need to provide their own music, instrument, music stand, and metronome. These should be available for both at-home practice as well as during the online lesson. Instruments should be maintained in a good playing condition and be properly fitted. Please refer to our resources page for recommended luthiers, instrument rentals (both local and online), and websites to purchase materials.
